SurgeryCass Regional Medical Center's Surgery Department provides surgical procedures to patient of all ages, including infants, toddlers, preschoolers, school age children, adolescents, adults and geriatric adults. Surgical services available include general; orthopedic; ear, nose and throat (ENT); ophthalmic (eye); urological; gynecological; and podiatric. Our surgeons are licensed practitioners with appropriate surgical privileges. These doctors are responsible for determining the degree of assessment and care provided, based on each individual patient's needs. A registered nurse assesses the patients' needs also throughout their stay in the Surgery Department. Care is also based on our national standards as set by the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN).
Important aspects of care for our Surgery Department include direct patient services, medication administration, patient safety, on-site monitoring, nursing process, discharge activities, infection control, risk management and education. Education is a major aspect of care delivered. It is done so in a simple, understandable way based on a patient's needs, abilities and readiness.
