Proceeds from Superheroes for Patients will be used to expand Cass Regional Medical Center Foundation’s Patient Assistance Fund
Heroes come in all shapes and sizes. Some wear capes and tights; others wear scrubs and stethoscopes. This April, on National Superheroes Day, we’ll be celebrating with the unspoken heroes of our hospital community - you, our donors.
Proceeds from Superheroes for Patients will be used to expand the Foundation’s Patient Assistance Fund. Since 2005, the fund has provided nearly $49,000 in assistance to more than 850 patients from communities across the region, primarily helping with transportation and medication needs.
While the Patient Assistance Fund has provided much-needed aid for our patients, there are many more ways we can help if we have the resources to do so. One of the key areas of unmet need is assistance with certain therapies, such as physical and occupational therapy, speech therapy, cardiac rehabilitation, diabetes education, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy/wound care.
In many cases, a patient may have insurance, but their policy does not cover therapy, or their copays are very high. Our caregivers go out of their way to help by offering more affordable alternatives for patients, but despite those efforts, patients often do not get the level of therapy they need. The result is that patients don’t recover or manage their conditions as well as they could, leading to a significantly reduced quality of life, lost wages, and increased health care costs caused by chronic health problems that might very well be avoided with the right level of therapy from the start.
That’s why we’re calling on you our - Superheroes for Patients - to help those in need. Thank you in advance for your support!
