Cass Regional’s COVID-19 Response

As the coronavirus pandemic continues to unfold, Cass Regional remains diligent in its efforts to protect patients, visitors and staff through the use of universal protective measures that focus on controlled access to the facility, infection prevention, social distancing, and patient cohorting and flow.
Public access to Cass Regional Medical Center continues to be limited to the main entrance and the Emergency Department entrance. The main entrance hours are 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Only the Emergency Department entrance will be open on weekends. All patients and visitors will be asked screening questions about symptoms, and if they have been in close proximity to any person who tested positive for COVID-19. All persons entering the facility, including staff and physicians, will have their temperatures checked.
Visitor Policy (Effective November 20, 2020)
- Hospitalized patients will be limited to only one designated visitor* for the duration of their hospital stay. The designated visitor will be the only person allowed to visit the patient.
*Visitors are NOT allowed for patients who have respiratory symptoms, or who have a suspected or confirmed case of coronavirus (COVID-19).
- No one under age 14 may visit at this time.
- All patients and visitors will be screened upon entry and required to wear a mask.
- Specialists Clinic patients and outpatient surgery/GI patients may continue to bring one support person (14 years of age or older) with them. All other outpatients, such as laboratory, medical imaging, and rehabilitation patients, are asked to come alone unless they require special assistance.
- Visitors who screen positive at entry will be asked to reschedule their visit until they are symptom-free.
- Please utilize alternative methods of communication with patients as much as possible.
- Visiting hours for inpatients are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
All patients and visitors will be required to wear masks while in common areas and outpatient treatment areas. Visitors can bring and use personal masks, such as a handmade cloth mask, or one will be provided. Staff will continue to use personal protective equipment as required. Other infection prevention measures, such as hand hygiene and frequent cleaning of high-touch surfaces and public areas, are ongoing. Public water fountains, vending machines, and coffee stations within the hospital are closed.
All patients and visitors will be encouraged to maintain a distance of six feet from others while in the facility. Furniture in common areas such as waiting rooms and the cafeteria has been rearranged to better accommodate social distancing recommendations.
Patient Cohorting and Flow
Dedicated treatment areas have been identified for patients who are symptomatic or who have tested positive for COVID-19. In addition, all COVID-19 patients are scheduled for outpatient visits and procedures at specific times during the day. Patients are routed through the facility according to their screening results and/or symptoms.
Telehealth Visit Options
The organization continues to offer telehealth options for several of its primary care and specialty clinics. Patients who are interested in a virtual visit should call the clinic office first.
