Pulmonary rehabilitation
Cass Regional Medical Center's Pulmonary Rehabilitation Department consists of health professionals who provide rehabilitation for patients along with information and support needed to meet the day-to-day challenges of living with a chronic lung disorder. Staff members work in conjunction with cardiac rehabilitation staff to provide individualized programs designed to build endurance and strength in patients with reduced lung functionality or lung disease. Through individualized treatment, consisting of education, exercise, breathing retraining, support groups, and development of coping and support skills, our program is designed to control and reduce symptoms and complications of pulmonary disease. We strive to increase the patient's physical strength and endurance, which reduces hospitalizations and health care expenses for patients. Our goal is to improve quality of life for patients and their families by restoring the highest possible level of independent function while lessening feelings of anxiety and/or depression and improving self-confidence.
Patients must obtain a prescription for pulmonary rehabilitation from their primary care provider.
