Weight management
When it comes to seeking medical treatment options for weight management, including bariatric surgery, everyone has a special reason for deciding to take this step. How will you discover your own motivation for making this choice? It could be keeping up with your kids, traveling more often, getting back to doing the things you love, or living a longer and healthier life. At Cass Regional Medical Center, our care for our bariatric patients is as personal as your decision.
We offer both nonsurgical and surgical treatment options for weight management. Our nurse works with you and your primary care physician to determine the course of treatment that is right for you.
In some cases, patients already have been under the care of a physician and fulfilled the steps necessary to undergo bariatric surgery. In those cases, patients will be referred to one of our surgeons for further evaluation.
Mutual agreement between patient and physician about treatment is important. As you and your doctor come to a decision on your next steps, you will discuss several considerations that you may also want to share with family and friends:
• your age
• possible health risks, including whether you have other chronic health conditions (comorbidities) that can be linked to obesity, such as diabetes or hypertension
• amount of weight to lose
• lifestyle patterns
• eating behaviors
