New provider, new possibilities: How Kim found answers about her health

If you’ve ever met Kim Hook, you know her as the calm, capable, and caring executive assistant who brings grace to everything she does at Cass Regional Medical Center. What many didn’t see was the private challenge she carried for years: managing a form of psoriasis that often brought discomfort and worry into her everyday life.
Earlier this year, Kim noticed a new patch of skin that looked different from what she had experienced before. It was uncomfortable, it continued to grow, and she knew something wasn’t right. Like many in rural communities, her options for specialty care were limited, and finding timely appointments felt discouraging. Still, Kim pushed forward, relying on her intuition and determination to get answers.
That’s when a spark of hope appeared. As Cass Regional prepared to open its new Women’s Health Clinic led by Dr. Meredith Levine, Kim learned that high-quality, specialized care was about to become more accessible—right here at home. She wasted no time scheduling a visit with Dr. Levine, and in a meaningful twist of fate, Kim became the very first patient seen at the new clinic.
Dr. Levine’s compassionate and thorough exam brought immediate reassurance. She recognized that the lesion was unusual and recommended a biopsy. Kim felt supported and informed every step of the way. When the results showed it required prompt attention, Dr. Levine quickly connected her with a trusted specialist who could safely remove it.
The surgery was successful, the recovery smooth, and before long, Kim was back to doing what she does best—serving her team and coworkers with her signature kindness and professionalism.
Looking back, Kim shares, “I am grateful for Dr. Levine. Without her, I would still be waiting for who knows how long.” She adds, “This clinic is truly a game changer for rural communities. It provides women with care options closer to home and eliminates the need to drive up to an hour just to see a healthcare provider.”
Kim’s story is a shining example of what accessible, compassionate health care makes possible. It celebrates the courage to seek help, the value of timely specialty care, and the power of a community hospital committed to meeting women’s needs close to home.
Her journey is one of hope—one that lights the path for others and reinforces Cass Regional Medical Center’s promise to deliver exceptional care, right where it’s needed most.
