Boots & Bar-B-Que Event Raises Funds for Community Trail
Cass Regional Medical Center Foundation hosted the “Boots & Bar-B-Que” fundraising dinner on Saturday, June 1, at Big Iron Town in Pleasant Hill. Approximately $50,000 was raised at the event, and proceeds will be used to help build the Floyd and Franceline Parris Community Trail on land behind the Cass Regional campus in Harrisonville. The estimated project cost is $585,000. Thanks to a recent generous bequest from the Franceline Parris Trust, the foundation has a lead gift of $150,000 designated to the project, which is named in honor of Mrs. Parris and her husband. Construction on the trail will likely begin in the spring of 2020.
More than 160 guests attended the event and had the opportunity to bid on 31 silent auction items and five live auction items as well as participate in a 50/50 raffle. Along with this, guests could participate a shooting gallery game, get their pictures taken at a photo booth and donate to have other guests put in the “Big Iron Jail” or bailed out of jail.
The emcee of the event was Rich Linden, a nationally-known event host and DJ. The welcome was given by Sonya McLelland, foundation administrative director, and the invocation was given by Tracy Sloan, foundation board secretary. Foundation board members Butch Beeman and Toni Wiseman shared remarks regarding Franceline Parris and the walking trail project. Entertainment was provided by the Live Wires Square Dance Club, and Bret Brown served as the auctioneer for the live auction.
Commerce Bank was the presenting sponsor. Health Care Associated Emergency Physicians was a table sponsor, and table patrons were BKD CPAs and Advisors, Crown Care Center, HCA Midwest Health, HFMD Properties, Seigfreid Bingham, Sherwood Community Bank and United Imaging Consultants, LLC.
