Cass Regional Medical Center Foundation awards spring scholarships

Cass Regional Medical Center Foundation recently awarded $8,500 in scholarships to six area students who are pursuing health care careers.

Bailey Greer of Adrian, Missouri, was selected to receive the Alma Brown Scholarship. Greer works as a technician in the Emergency Department at Cass Regional. She is a graduate of Adrian High School and is pursuing a degree in nursing at Crowder College. Greer received a $1,000 scholarship, which was made possible by the generosity of the late Alma Brown.

Sheynacy Curran of Harrisonville, Missouri, along with Greer, was awarded the Sonny and Toni Wiseman Scholarship. Curran works full time as a phlebotomist at Cass Regional. She is attending Metropolitan Community College with a career goal of becoming a registered nurse. Curran and Greer each received a $500 award, which was made possible by Sonny and Toni Wiseman. Toni Wiseman is a member of the Cass Regional Medical Center board of trustees.

Gael Rios of Harrisonville, Missouri, was selected to receive the Wanda Brown Scholarship. Rios is a 2023 graduate of Harrisonville High School and plans to major in nursing at the University of Central Missouri. He received a $1,000 scholarship, which was donated by the late Wanda Brown, who was a member of the Cass Regional Medical Center Auxiliary for more than 60 years.

Trey Hoffman of Archie, Missouri, was awarded the Cass Regional Medical Center Auxiliary Scholarship. Hoffman is a 2023 graduate of Harrisonville High School and plans to major in biochemistry, with a pre-med emphasis, at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He received a $1,500 scholarship, which is given annually by the Cass Regional Medical Center Auxiliary.

Brooke Truman of Belton, Missouri, was selected to receive the John K. Hoffman Memorial Scholarship. Truman is a graduate of Belton High School and currently attends Rockhurst University where she is majoring in exercise science/pre-physical therapy. After completing her undergraduate degree, she plans to pursue a doctorate in physical therapy. She received a $1,000 scholarship, which was made possible by donations received in memory of John Hoffman, PT. Hoffman worked as a physical therapist at Cass Regional Medical Center for 35 years.

Truman was also selected to receive the Jan Perry Scholarship. She received a $2,000 award, which was made possible by the generosity of the late Jan and Wirt Perry.

Kelsi Mainard of Creighton, Missouri, was selected to receive the Dr. Gail G. Kroenke Memorial Scholarship. Mainard works as a technician in the Emergency Department at Cass Regional. She is a graduate of Sherwood High School and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in speech-language pathology at the University of Central Missouri. Mainard received a $1,000 scholarship, which was made possible by donations given in memory of Gail G. Kroenke, DVM.

Since its start in 1989, Cass Regional Medical Center Foundation has awarded 206 scholarships totaling over $220,000, which have helped nearly 200 individuals achieve their educational goals.
