Cass Regional Medical Center Foundation awards spring scholarships
Cass Regional Medical Center Foundation recently awarded $10,600 in scholarships to seven area students who are pursuing health care careers.
Miranda Fisher, of Harrisonville, Missouri, was selected to receive the Alma Brown Scholarship. Fisher is a senior at Harrisonville High School and plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She received a $1,000 scholarship, which was made possible by the generosity of the late Alma Brown.
McKenzie Meeks, of Harrisonville, Missouri, was selected to receive the Wanda Brown Scholarship. Meeks is a senior at Harrisonville High School and plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in nursing at Missouri State University. She received a $1,000 scholarship, which was donated by the late Wanda Brown, who was a member of the Cass Regional Medical Center Auxiliary for more than 60 years.
Chris Obersteadt, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, was awarded the Cass Regional Medical Center Auxiliary Scholarship. Obersteadt graduated from Raymore-Peculiar High School and is currently a pre-medical student at Rockhurst University, where he is pursuing a degree in molecular biology. He received a $1,500 scholarship, which is given annually by the Cass Regional Medical Center Auxiliary.
Kelsi Mainard, of Creighton, Missouri, was selected to receive the Dr. Gail G. Kroenke Memorial Scholarship and the Jan Perry Scholarship. Mainard works as a technician in the Emergency Department at Cass Regional. She is a graduate of Sherwood High School and is pursuing a career as a speech-language pathologist. Mainard received a $500 award, which was made possible by donations given in memory of Gail G. Kroenke, DVM, and a $2,000 award, which was made possible by the generosity of the late Jan and Wirt Perry.
Hailee Ricker, of Harrisonville, Missouri, was selected to receive the Irene H. Webster Pippitt Scholarship. Ricker graduated from Harrisonville High School and is currently a student at Central Methodist University, where she is pursuing a degree in athletic training. She received a $1,000 award, which was made possible by the generosity of the late Irene H. Webster Pippitt and foundation scholarship donors.
Danika “Dani” Knight, of Harrisonville, Missouri, was selected to receive the Terry and Susie Reardon Scholarship. Knight is a senior at Harrisonville High School and plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in nursing at the University of Central Missouri. She received a $3,100 award, which was made possible by the generosity of Terry and Susie Reardon.
Samantha Dumas, of Adrian, Missouri, was awarded the Sonny and Toni Wiseman Scholarship. Dumas works full time as a registered nurse in the Emergency Department at Cass Regional. She is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in nursing through Western Governors University. Dumas received a $500 award, which was made possible by the generosity of Sonny and Toni Wiseman. Toni Wiseman is a member of the Cass Regional Medical Center board of trustees.
Since its start in 1989, Cass Regional Medical Center Foundation has awarded 211 scholarships totaling over $235,000, which have helped more than 200 individuals achieve their educational goals.
