Cass Regional Medical Center Foundation fundraiser assists expansion of the Patient Assistance Fund

Cass Regional Medical Center Foundation hosted the “Superheroes for Patients” fundraising dinner Saturday, April 28, at Loch Lloyd Country Club in Belton. The fundraising efforts will help expand the Patient Assistance Fund.

More than 150 guests attended the event and had the opportunity to bid on silent auction items and live auction items, as well as participate in a 50/50 raffle.

The emcee of the event was Rich Linden and the invocation was given by Foundation Board President, Carole Arnold. Bret Brown served as the auctioneer for the live auction portion of the evening.

Sonya McLelland, administrative director of the foundation, and Denise Ashby-Cohen, manager of the Case Management department at Cass Regional; and cardiac rehabilitation patient Les Whiteside also shared remarks regarding the purpose of the night’s event

The fundraising goal of “Superheroes for Patients” was $60,000, and over $65,000 was raised through the event.

Commerce Bank was the presenting sponsor, and table sponsors included Health Care Associated Emergency Physicians and Foxwood Springs. Table patrons were BKD CPAs & Advisors, Hawthorn Bank, HCA Midwest Health, HFMD Properties, Seigfreid Bingham, P.C., Sherwood Community Bank and United Imaging Consultants. The drink ticket sponsor was MedTrak RX, and the photo booth sponsor was Redwood of Raymore. Supporters of the event were American Heritage, Realtors, CPSK Insurance Services, Dick and Jennifer Wallace, HealthSCOPE Benefits; and St. Luke’s East Anesthesia.

The event also featured thirty-five silent auction packages and three live auction packages, many of which were donated by area businesses and individuals from the Cass County community.

“Superheroes for Patients” steering committee members are Denise Ashby-Cohen, Janet Burlingame, Ethy Christman, T.R. Hoefle, Cricket Kroenke, Carol Looney, Bing Schimmelpfenning, Martha Howell Sims, Gina Smith, Carol Welborn and Toni Wiseman.

The Foundation’s fundraising efforts for the Patient Assistance Fund will continue with the Celebration Basket raffle. The Celebration Baskets will be on display in the Rotunda at Cass Regional May 7-11, and raffle tickets will be sold on site throughout the week. The drawings for each basket will take place at noon May 11. The baskets to be raffled will be donated by Cass Regional employees and volunteers, as well as community groups and businesses. All members of the public are invited to participate.
