Harrisonville, MO — September 16, 2025 — For the first time in hospital history, Cass Regional Medical Center’s Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program has been awarded Program Certification by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR).

This prestigious national recognition ensures patients are receiving specialized, evidence-based care designed to improve quality of life, reduce symptoms, prevent hospitalizations, and build confidence in managing chronic lung conditions.

“Achieving AACVPR certification reflects our team’s commitment to the highest standards of excellence in Pulmonary Rehabilitation,” said Tonya Lichte, Director, Respiratory Therapy. “Our priority is to provide the best possible outcomes for the patients and community we serve.”

Cass Regional’s Pulmonary Rehabilitation program is led by respiratory therapists who provide individualized care and education to help patients manage chronic lung disorders. Working closely with the Cardiac Rehabilitation team, the program focuses on building endurance, improving breathing, and teaching coping skills through a combination of exercise, education, breathing retraining, and support.

The goal is to reduce symptoms and complications of pulmonary disease, lessen hospitalizations and healthcare costs, and enhance patients’ quality of life by restoring independence, reducing anxiety and depression, and improving self-confidence.

A prescription from a primary care provider is required to participate. For more information, contact Pulmonary Rehabilitation at (816) 887-0788.
