Cass Regional to Resume Some Services Next Week - Protective measures will continue to ensure safety
Following guidance issued by the Centers for Disease Control and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and the expiration of stay-at-home orders, Cass Regional Medical Center will resume some services beginning the week of May 4. Services that will re-open with modified schedules include cardiac rehabilitation, routine medical imaging, elective surgeries, GI screening procedures, pain management procedures, and home sleep testing.
Cass Regional will continue to use universal protective measures that focus on controlled access to the facility, infection prevention, social distancing, and patient cohorting and flow.
Access Control
Public access to Cass Regional Medical Center will continue to be limited to the main entrance and the Emergency Department entrance. The main entrance hours are 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Only the Emergency Department entrance will be open on weekends. All patients and visitors will be asked screening questions about symptoms, and if they have been in close proximity to any person who tested positive for COVID-19. All persons entering the facility, including staff and physicians, will have their temperatures checked.
No-Visitor Policy
The no-visitor policy remains in effect at Cass Regional. Exceptions include: allowing one caregiver for minor or mentally-disabled patients; one caregiver/driver for surgery and/or outpatient testing; one caregiver/driver for Emergency Department or clinic visits; and one dedicated family member where end of life care is being given. If a visitor is identified to have one or more risk factors during screening at the hospital entry doors, he or she will not be allowed to enter the facility.
Infection Prevention
All patients and visitors will be required to wear masks while in common areas and outpatient treatment areas. Visitors can bring and use personal masks, such as a handmade cloth mask, or one will be provided. Staff will continue to use personal protective equipment as required. Other infection prevention measures, such as hand hygiene and frequent cleaning of high-touch surfaces and public areas, will also continue.
Social Distancing
All patients and visitors will be encouraged to maintain a distance of six feet from others while in the facility. Furniture in common areas such as waiting rooms and the cafeteria has been rearranged to better accommodate social distancing recommendations.
Patient Cohorting and Flow
Dedicated treatment areas have been identified for patients who are symptomatic or who have tested positive for COVID-19. Staff will be assigned to care for patients according to their symptoms so that there will be limited staff crossover between COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 patients. In addition, all COVID-19 patients will be scheduled for outpatient visits and procedures at specific times during the day. Patients will also be routed through the facility according to their screening results and/or symptoms.
Telehealth Visits Ongoing
The organization will continue to offer telehealth options for several of its primary care and specialty clinics. Patients who are interested in a virtual visit should call the clinic office first. For a list of clinics and contact information, visit www.cassregional.org.
