Farmer Named Employee of the Quarter at Cass Regional Medical Center
Ruth Farmer, admitting clerk, was named Cass Regional Medical Center's Employee of the Quarter for the third quarter of 2019. Chief Executive Officer Chris Lang made the announcement Friday, November 22, during a reception.
“I felt shocked initially and still do, but I feel incredibly honored.” Farmer said. “I absolutely love working at Cass Regional Medical Center. The family values are carried out by everyone who works here,” she said.
Farmer, who has been a Cass Regional employee for three years, was nominated by fellow employees. Farmer was selected as the Employee of the Quarter for positively representing Cass Regional’s mission and vision.
The nomination letters described Farmer as kind, respectful and dedicated. “She exhibits kindness and respect to everyone that comes in contact with her. She is the kindest person I have ever met.”
Farmer said there are many reasons why she loves working at Cass Regional Medical Center. “The people. The family of Cass Regional. Meaning the employees, patients, guests, first responders. The atmosphere that goes along with being a part of this community. My family is spread out around the country and it is heart-warming to feel that we have a family here,” said Farmer.
Before coming to work at Cass Regional, Farmer worked for Alton Memorial Hospital (Illinois) in the pharmacy for 20 years. “As my husband's job moved us around the country, we found ourselves in Ohio for a while, allowing me to work at a hospital in Springfield, Ohio, in patient access. These two positions solidified my love of working in health care,” said Farmer.
Farmer resides in Pleasant Hill with her husband, Sam. They have two children, Stephen and Suzi. Stephen is married to Nicole and they live in Maryland with their three daughters. Suzi is married to TJ and they live in Illinois with their son and three daughters. In her spare time, Farmer enjoys talking about, to and with her kids and grandbabies, and her mom, who is 95 years young and lives in Ohio. Farmer has always enjoyed sewing and also loves spending time with her husband.
As Employee of the Quarter, Farmer received a paid day off, a designated parking space for the quarter, an Employee of the Quarter pin, a cake and balloons.
