Shoemaker Named Employee of the Quarter at Cass Regional Medical Center
Kathy Shoemaker, phlebotomist, was recently named Cass Regional Medical Center's Employee of the Quarter for the third quarter of 2021. Chief Executive Officer Chris Lang made the announcement during a surprise reception.
“I was shocked and speechless, which is a first as I'm a big talker,” said Shoemaker regarding the recognition.
Shoemaker, who has worked at Cass Regional for four years, was nominated by a fellow employee. She was selected as the Employee of the Quarter for positively representing Cass Regional’s mission and vision.
The nomination letter described Shoemaker as dedicated, caring, hardworking and genuine. “Kathy is an exceptional employee. She sees to every need of the patient, even if it is out of the phlebotomy job description.”
Shoemaker said there are many reasons why she loves working at Cass Regional Medical Center. “The family feel and people always willing to help both within and outside the facility,” said Shoemaker.
Shoemaker moved around the world with her husband who was in the military. They made one final move to Harrisonville from Minnesota. She applied for the PRN position in the Cass Regional Laboratory and after working nearly every day for two months she accepted a full-time position in December 2017.
Shoemaker lives in Harrisonville with her husband of 30 years, James. They have one daughter, Whitney, who lives in Fargo, ND. In her spare time, she enjoys scrapbooking, traveling and paper crafting.
As Employee of the Quarter, Shoemaker receives a paid day off, a designated parking space for the quarter, an Employee of the Quarter pin, a cake and balloons.
